EPIPHONE VS GIBSON?
IN THIS SECTION I AM GOING TO SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE AND ANSWER THE OLD AGE QUESTION:WHY DON'T PEOPLE BUY EPIPHONE SINCE IT'S JUST CHEAPER ?ISN'T IT LIKE A GIBSON BUT JUST CHEAPER? AND WHY DID LES PAUL PUT HIS SIGNATURE ON BOTH?
WELL TRUTH IS: NO, AN EPIPHONE IS AN EPIPHONE AND A GIBSON IS A GIBSON
IT'S LIKE COMPARING A FUEL INJECTED MOTORCYLE TO ONE WITH CARBURETOR.
GIBSON IS SUPERIOR IN EVERY ASPECT:
Gibson uses all top quality wood, hardware and electronics, An Epiphone uses a veneered maple top, multiple piece mahogany back, and lower grade electronics and hardware.
Well, I played both and to have an epiphone sound close to the sound of a gibson you have to upgrade almost everything: the pickups, the pots, the electronics, the capacitors but you can never upgrade the wood so an Epiphone will never be equal to a gibson even after all the upgrades
and I do believe that gibson guitars retain their value way better than any other guitar on the market.
I heard so many people say: if you are a beginner you should not start with a gibson, what is the logic behind that? Absolutely none!! If you have the money why not!
I do believe that if you have a guitar with superior potential you might be more tempted to play it and invest more time with it!
Les paul put his signature on both but keep in mind it took a lot of work to have him do that
at the end there was few things that had to be changed, so an epiphone les paul is a bit better than an epiphone that does not have his signature but still inferior to gibson les paul.
To conclude: Gibson guitars are way superior in quality, tone and versatility than Epiphone guitars!
